Who founded it? Born in the mainland, raised in Boston, in the United States, and having cut her fashion-design teeth in Milan, Italy, Kristina Sun cultivates a fresh, eclectic aesthetic with her prints and use of vibrant colours. Last year she launched Kris Jane, which specialises in scarves that can be used as headbands, bags or beach dresses.

Why we love it: white-collar fashion can at times make Hong Kong seem like a somewhat uniform city, but Sun brings a touch of the Amazon to our concrete jungle. The lightness and softness of her silks, together with a bold, almost futuristic palette, can freshen up a wardrobe. While her Oceanica capsule collection is charming, we are looking forward to the launch of the Foulards collection in the coming weeks.

What we’d pick: we adore accessories with personality and surprising details, so the Foulards D’vine Emerald silk scarf (above right; HK$853), inspired by bright tropical flowers and finished with hard-rolled edges, is for us. The black base colour keeps things grounded, while the purple-to-green spectrum adds a fun element. And if you’re going on holiday, look no further than the Chromatic Island digital-print scarf (right, worn as dress; HK$1,939). Wrap it around your body and loop it through an exotic necklace to transform it into a resort dress, or tie it around your hips loosely as a sarong.

Where can you get it? Kris Jane is available at WOW, 14 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2893 9116, and at krisjane.com.
