Go on my sun If you're looking to prolong the summer and chase the sun, then a pair of stylish Tod's sunglasses could be just the ticket. We like the aviator-style glasses with leather-clad arms, which come in classic brown and a rather sporty blue alternative (above; both HK$4,750). Tod's is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2810 8692.

Go down a storm It's typhoon season, so it might be an idea to get kitted out for the odd torrential downpour. Luckily, Aigle has plenty of options to help you look wonderful in the wet. The blue rain jacket (far right; HK$3,380) comes with a handy hood and waterproofing. For lighter showers, or a dart from the cab to your building, we recommend the Army coat (left; HK$3,680) in camel. Aigle is in Elements Mall, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8698.

Positive thinking A new season is upon us and, with it, perhaps, a new attitude to fashion. Whisper it but the years of demure austerity might be over, finally, and a bit of ostentatious luxury could be creeping back in. At least that's what Giorgio Armani is banking on with his autumn menswear collection, in which extravagant fabrics such as crocodile, rabbit and velvet are all prominent. Even the cuts and silhouettes seem a bit more confident. Velvet informs this look of ruby blazer (HK$23,000), jersey grey trousers (HK$7,900), patterned shirt (HK$7,300), black velvet tie (HK$3,200), gloves (HK$4,700), pocket square (HK$1,100) and shoes (HK$6,900; all above right). We also love this confident, sporty look of double-breasted jacquard jacket (HK$20,000), flannel trousers (HK$8,500), jumper (HK$22,000), gloves (HK$2,400) and pocket square (HK$1,100; all above left). The shoes and the bag have yet to be priced for Hong Kong. Giorgio Armani is in Chater House, Central, tel: 2532 7700.

Citizen Smith Paul Smith is a modern-day marvel. If you follow his Twitter or Instagram accounts, you might be amazed by the amount of travelling Sir Paul gets in these days, at the sprightly age of 67. All that gallivanting must require sturdy footwear, of course, and we suspect the British designer is partial to his own creations, particularly these gorgeous, dark green deck shoes (above; HK$4,500), which are available only in Hong Kong. For something a little more eccentric, there's the tan leather Armada sandal with tassels (left; HK$4,650). Paul Smith is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2523 5868.
