Boxy charm Luxurious leather label Delvaux has some serious history behind it – more than 100 years, in fact. Recently bought by Hong Kong’s Fung Brands, the Belgian label has just had a discreet relaunch and its classic aesthetic has been updated with fresh colours. What Delvaux claims to offer is the antithesis to the seasonal “it” bags that appear on the arms of young starlets and quickly fall out of favour. This brand is going for transtrend appreciation with classic designs and a quiet, grown-up elegance, as can be seen on the small purple shoulder bag (left; HK$17,210) and the larger red version (above; HK$28,710). Delvaux is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388.

Purple patch Blue-purple reflective glass lenses – a nod to the 1970s but in updated frames – have become a huge hit this season. We love Karen Walker’s round Peek-a- Boo version (top; HK$2,760), with clear acetate frames, and the edgy and angular Siouxsie pair (above; HK$2,640). The glasses are available at Ocular Plus, 1/F, Style House, The Park Lane, 310 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2881 6090.

Work it French contemporary label Sandro aspires to move up into the world of highfashion. The label has been opening stores around the world, and it’s not hard to see why stylish, urban, working women find the brand appealing. There are plenty of cool items, such as the blue sunglasses (HK$1,945), distressed leather jacket (HK$10,445), blue cable-knit jumper (HK$2,445), pleated vinyl skirt (HK$5,190) and black-and-white lace-up shoes (HK$3,890; all left) reminiscent of brothel creepers (no, we’re not talking about trainers stained with Wan Chai beer). For a simple rock-chic outfit, look to the classic leather jacket (HK$4,290) and black slim-cut trousers (HK$2,190; both far left). Sandro is in Lee Gardens 2, Causeway Bay, tel: 2972 2115.
