Behind the label: Amenpapa
Sarah Cottee
Who started it? A few years ago, former marketing and advertising manager Salina Yam Ka-man made drastic changes to her career and lifestyle. Following a severe bout of depression, the Hongkonger became an evangelical Christian and created the label Amenpapa in 2010, with her husband, Geoff Poon Cheng-fai, to "spread God's message through fashion". The clothes quickly took off with celebrities including Vanness Wu Jian-hao, Sammi Cheng Sau-man and Fiona Sit Hoi-kei, and retailers such as Harvey Nichols, Bauhaus and Cocktail all wanting a slice of the action.
Why we love it: the clothes are fun, bright and exciting. The autumn-winter 2013 collection, Break it!, features slogan tees and an abundance of fresh and quirky patterned fabrics. Each item is youthful and would give any outfit an energetic and eye-popping lift. Men's, women's and children's ranges are all available.
What we'd pick: the women's patch-knit-sleeve denim jacket (above left; HK$1,999) is perfect for the coming change in season and the bright dress (above right; HK$1,299) is cute and fun.
Where can you get it? Amenpapa is at Silvercord, 30 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 3102 3800. For more locations, visit amenpapa.com
