Paying homage to the traditions of the house, creative director Bruno Frisoni has reintroduced the playful Virgule "comma" heel in a lovely range of effects, including vinyl, which contrasts well with the structured formality of the U-look line of bags.

 (below left) Snakes in the grass and bugs in the trees; Sandra Choi was inspired by the jungle for her natural python stilettos and iridescent blue and green sandals. Creepy but gorgeous.

The Italian has gone metallic, with red, gold and silver sandals - rose gold is the hot tip, along with the "spine" heel. He also debuts a leather that's as matt as a tuxedo jacket, as well as denim ankle boots and day pumps.

Nirvana is the name of Zanotti's barely there python sandal with gilded snakeskin coiling around the ankle. There are lots of delicate evening sandals and, judging by the studs and chains, no letting up on the hardware.

 (below right) Gabriella Crespi's furniture designs were the starting point for new Sergio Rossi designer Angelo Ruggeri's bamboo veneered sandals and clutch. What with his tribal patchworks, camouflage geometric boots and wicker-woven-style boots, Ruggeri is clearly ready to experiment.

Mediterranean blues, greens and coral make us dream of la dolce vita holidays with jewelled sunglasses and exotic-skin Rossellini bags. This season we have the Icona, a two-tone, cross-body bag, and the calfskin Monete tote with a coin detail on the chain.
