1. MCMLXI A brand that likes to lay low, Ports 1961 is also one of the few international high-fashion brands to have come out of Canada. Since it was founded in, of course, 1961, in Toronto, the label has gained a reputation for luxurious sophistication for confident working women. Not one to bend to fleeting trends, nor the flotsam and jetsam of fast fashion, Ports has become a steady force, having led the charge into the China market in the 1990s. There’s even a Hong Kong connection, with shares in the brand having listed here in 2003. But enough of the history lesson – this season the label brings us sleek lines and gorgeous autumnal hues. Hemlines are conservative, hitting mid calf, such as on this Swarovskicrystal embellished moss green skirt (HK$13,880) worn with a silk  gazar tee (HK$1,850; both left). We love the sheer pleats on this silk georgette cranberry dress (centre; HK$7,280), and the slightly cheeky stretch double wool black bustier dress (right; HK$4,630). Ports 1961 is available at Sogo, 555 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2831 8940.

2.  Gold star Jeweller Eddie Borgo visited Hong Kong recently, bringing over his men's range as well as limited editions for the local market. He has been pushing the boundaries of jewellery design for some time now, and what's on offer this season is no exception. We love these wing-like earrings in silver, with green and marble stones in the centre (top; HK$3,590). Continuing the organic theme is the stunning two-section gold ring (bottom; HK$3,090). Eddie Borgo is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 3388.

3.  Blend it like Beckham Say what you like about Victoria Beckham but her reinvention from Spice Girl to fashion guru has been remarkable. Arguably one of the most influential style celebrities in the West, the female half of Britain's top power couple has killed it with her accessories range. The sleek muted sophistication of her bags has made them seriously coveted and their beautiful simplicity finds compliment in the autumn-winter line's inky shades. We like the boxy bag in aubergine and navy (top; HK$24,500). Taking the same shape and making it a little more playful is the white and navy colour blocked version (bottom: also HK$24,500). Victoria Beckham's accessories are available at On Pedder, 16 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2118 3489.
