Pretty polished Sometimes you just want a bag that is sleek and stylish, without all the bells and whistles. American designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors has some in store right now – and they’re not as pricey as you might think. The purple quilted Sloan bag (above left; HK$3,100) is a great colour for autumn and would work well as a cute evening bag. The large, hot pink Selma (centre; HK$4,400) certainly won’t go unnoticed but is surprisingly clean and pure in construction. And if brights hues aren’t your style, there is also a pearl-grey version (top left; HK$4,200). Michael Kors is in The Peninsula Arcade, 19 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2366 2301.

Your fair Cher Dior Joallerie artistic director Victoire de Castellane is one of those eccentric designers who always exceeds expectations. Her boundless enthusiasm for gems and design is coupled with a playfulness and daring which has broken down many barriers in the stiff, conservative world of high jewellery. Her latest Cher Dior collection combines her love for multicoloured gems and dramatic, regal shapes. We love the Majestueuse Multicoloured Necklace (top right) featuring teardrop shapes and stones including sapphires in pink and purple, rubies and diamonds. There is also the stunning Exquise Emeraude ring (above right), with diamonds, emeralds, Paraiba tourmalines, demantoid garnets and sapphires. Needless to say, most of us won't be able to afford these items without re-mortgaging the house. Prices are available upon request. Christian Dior is at 1 Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2269 5000.

Wild things Leopard and zebra prints, thick stripes and hearts aplenty - Burberry Prorsum's autumn-winter line hits on several recurring trends. Its fire-engine reds, mustards and black-and-white combos make for an easy mix-and-match wardrobe this season. We like how designer Christopher Bailey answers the call of the wild while keeping it all rather sleek, with patent surfaces and slim-cut skirts. For a stunning winter cover-up, we highly recommend the fringed, eyelet trenchcoat in neoprene-bonded calfskin (HK$82,000) worn with the polished-metal hoop belt (HK$5,500), giraffe-print wedge pumps (HK$8,900) and black-and-white calfskin tote bag with leather trim (HK$19,000; all far right). Then there is the look of camel cashmere ribbed knit jumper (HK$14,000), with calfskin pencil skirt (HK$33,000), Little Crush bag (HK$12,000), gold hoop belt (HK$5,900) and wedge pumps (HK$8,900; all right). The new Burberry look is youthful and rock-inspired: just a few weeks ago, as part of its global music initiative, the brand had London band Wolf Alice play at its Hong Kong flagship store. Burberry is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 4022.
