Something new: Suite dreams

One weekend, three floors, 50 designers. That pretty much sums up In Bed with Designers, a design "sleepover" organised by locally based BuyMeDesign.

The two-day event, which starts on November 30, is part of Business of Design Week and will be held at Causeway Bay's stylish Mini Hotel. The aim is to give local and international designers the chance to display their wares, each in their own cosy room.

Members of the public and industry buyers will be able to view and purchase products ranging from home decor and lighting to fashion accessories, tech gadgets, jewellery, stationery and much more.

The international guest list includes Belgian furniture designer Xavier Coenen, mainland collective Pin Wu, Hong Kong's Praxis Design and others from Taiwan and South Korea.

"The event is a unique chance for the public to engage with international designs and designers," says Florence Giraudon, founder of BuyMeDesign, an online shop and design blog that links designers to international buyers.

A packed schedule on November 30 includes a drinks reception, guided tours of the exhibitors' rooms, talks and PechaKucha presentations - a format in which people show and talk about 20 images for 20 seconds each.

In Bed with Designers will run from 1.30pm to 11pm on November 30 and 11am to 6pm on December 1 at the Mini Hotel, 8 Sun Wui Road, Causeway Bay. For more details, call 3618 5805 or visit www.buymedesign.com
