Music to your ears Clockenflap is on next weekend and if it's anything like previous years, its going to get pretty darn chilly in the evenings - and no, more alcohol isn't a remedy. Protect yourself from the inevitable wind-chill factor with gloves, scarves and a hat, but make sure it's Ted Baker's fold-down flap hat (top left; HK$700), which manages to walk the line between looking cool and being practical. If looking good matters more than saving your ears, then a Ted Baker flat cap (top centre; HK$550) will let you blend in with all the hipsters descending on West Kowloon. Ted Baker is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 9609.

Pack man It’s hiking season, and if you have intrepid friends like we do here at The goods, they are no doubt trying to bully you into going trekking on Lantau or around Sai Kung or some other mystical, far-off place, all in the name of “fun”. Well, walking up and down mountains and through dense jungle might appeal to some but, for townies, the urban hike is exercise enough. Budding urban explorers might be interested in a ck Calvin Klein Ferris leather backpack (top right; HK$2,890), which gives the impression you like walking and looks pretty slick, too. For the genuinely active urban dweller, particularly those of the sophisticated cycle set, the ck Calvin Klein Travis black leather messenger bag (above right; HK$3,690) might be more appealing. Ck Calvin Klein is in Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2526 8808.

Just for kicks Those crazy cats at Giuseppe Zanotti were clearly channelling seminal 1980s hit Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo when they were thinking up their new trainer designs, given the busy mash-up of zips, metal and fabrics. Our picks would be the black fur hi-tops (above centre; HK$12,990) and the scarab green and red leather hi-tops (above left; HK$7,850). Giuseppe Zanotti is in IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2805 0890.

Who's the boss? You may have missed it, but Hugo Boss has been rationalising its sub-labels. Boss Selection is no more, but the good news is there's been an increased focus on the Boss by Hugo Boss mainline. All the attention lavished by the design team has resulted in a wonderfully varied collection filled with colour and underpinned with that familiar expert tailoring. We love this dandy gentleman's look of brownish-grey tartan three-piece suit (HK$26,200), orange shirt (HK$3,900), brown silk tie (HK$1,600), pocket square (HK$1,100), brown leather shoes (HK$4,300) and calfskin leather bag (HK$7,900; all right). We're also fans of this colourful look of yellow blazer (HK$6,100), checked shirt (HK$2,700), navy knitwear (HK$3,100), grey trousers (HK$3,000), knitted tie (HK$1,350), pocket square (HK$700), leather shoes (HK$4,300) and bag (same as before; all far right). Boss by Hugo Boss is in Gateway Arcade, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2735 1962.
