Who started it? Founder Candy Hui joined forces with Maria Luisa Leitao for the sunglasses brand's debut collection. Hui's family are in the spectacles industry and Leitao is a well-known television personality; Hui takes care of the quality and craftsmanship, while Leitao, as design consultant, ensures the frames are bang on trend and perched upon the noses of all the right celebrities.
Why we love it: People by People's stylish, polarised frames will not only instantly update a tired winter wardrobe but keep your peepers safe from the sun. They offer a fun alternative to the common black bug-eye shapes favoured by high-end luxury labels, and are affordable, too. We're not saying the concept is entirely original - we've all seen polarised lenses before - but the pocket-friendly prices for such fashion-forward pieces have us falling hook, line and sinker. The brand is already a hit with famous faces in these parts thanks to the bespoke "Asian Fit" on offer. The two themes, "Day by Day" and "Just for Fun", encompass everything from feline flicks to sexy circles in every shade under the sun.
What we'd pick: we love vibrant, violet hues and the Just For Fun 05D blue bifocals (above right; HK$1,100) are first on our wish list. We find it hard to resist a tortoiseshell frame, too, and the pale colour combination of these Just For Fun 01Cs (top left; HK$1,000) are perfectly demure without being too washed out. Star Wars fans can try out the Darth Vader-inspired Just for Fun 03 As (above left; HK$1,100) - give them to your boyfriend as a gift and then wear them when he's not looking, because, let's be honest, they look better on you.
