Oh my God! I just heard Sarah Jessica Parker has a shoe line. I was a huge fan of Sex and the City and I still love her style. Can I get these shoes here or is it one of those annoying exclusive deals?
Shoes in the City, Red Hill

The Dictator rules: OMG, indeed. Talk about annoying. Let me guess … you’ve got all her fragrances (www.sarahjessicaparker
). Well, you might be disappointed to learn that her new shoe collection, SJP, is very sophisticated. Think more the Halston Heritage (www.halston.com) collections she worked on a few years ago. There will be about 30 styles, high to flat, suede to metallic, and in every colour of the rainbow, with a few neutrals thrown in for good measure. There are small bow details, cage sandals, multicoloured straps and a flower or two. Now, you know Sarah is not Carrie, right? There is a shoe called Carrie, though, as well as others named Jill, Inez, Slim, Bobbie and Brigitte, to name a few. The SJP line was created in collaboration with one of the shoe designers she patronised and adored in Sex and the City, Manolo Blahnik. The shoes cost about HK$1,550 to HK$2,910 per pair, not including delivery. So, yes, you will be able to order them, with delivery to Hong Kong, exclusively from nordstrom.com.The frenzy begins on February 28 at midnight US Pacific Time. That’s 4pm in Hong Kong, so set your phone alarm already. Ew, and get, like, totally psyched, ‘cause rumour has it bags and clothes will follow soon.

I have a few questions about the new designer “golf” jumpers with all-over patterns. I know they’re supposed to be ironic but I’m worried about how to wear them without looking like I’m serious.
Knit Wit, Sai Ying Pun

The Dictator: Questions? I don’t see any in your message, but you are right to have reservations. Sure, old man clothes will look fabulous and tongue-in-cheek on a supermodel. So would a black bin liner. For mere mortals, it’s far trickier. Let’s get on a safer track and talk about the season’s geometric knitwear, some of  which might ironically refer to golf jumpers. A perfect style guide would be Carven (1 Moon Street, Wan Chai, tel: 2804 1608), which somehow manages to be slightly nerdy and very fashionable all at once, with outfits of unlikely mixes such as patterned jumpers (HK$3,550 each) with printed short-shorts.Abstract works really well here, such as Derek Lam’s asymmetrical, colour-blocked cashmere pullovers (HK$5,990 each; www.netaporter.com), a new take on an old idea. Or look for unusual stripes. Kate Spade mixes coloured stripes of varying thicknesses on cardis and jumpers (HK$2,200 to HK$2,400; IFC Mall, Central, tel: 3188 1928). Diane von Furstenberg has cardigans made up of panels of stripes and solids (HK$3,200; The Landmark, Central, tel: 2522 8782). And Kenzo has updated the cardigan in neon yellow and black with a modern twig-like crosshatched pattern (HK$5,290; Gateway Arcade, Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2175 4188).
