1.  Cruise chic Escada creative director Daniel Wingate has gone for a more youthful and fun look this spring with a collection inspired by a cruise along the French Riviera. His interpretation, however, is definitely modern, thanks to youthful, graphic prints such as blown-up florals, zebra stripes and giraffe spots. Highlights include the sexy yet playful yellow dress (right; HK$12,700), with asymmetrical pleating and an abstract pineapple print. More elegant is the luxe leather coat (left; HK$34,800) in a vibrant red hue with intricate cutouts. Escada is in Standard Chartered Bank Building, 4 Des Voeux Road Central, tel: 2596 9790.

2.  Flower arranging In accordance with this season's tribal trend, statement jewels are a must. Fendi's Blossom collection fits the bill with its funky combination of geometric and floral motifs. Metal and leather have been mixed for the line of modern yet feminine necklaces, bracelets, rings and brooches, resulting in a cool contrast. The brand's signature Cuoio Romano leather is crafted into pink petals to form a romantic floral necklace (HK$6,800), which comes with a matching bracelet (HK$3,100; top). More contemporary is the collection that features metal bars in gold and silver plate (bracelet, HK$8,100; necklace, HK$9,800; ring, HK$2,100, all on the bottom branch), which references the brand's iconic Pequin motif. Fendi is in The Landmark, Central, tel: 2524 1339.

3.  Boxing clever Even though brands update their handbag offerings every season, it's not easy to find a style that is modern yet classic enough to wear forever. It's with this in mind that Smythson has released the 1887 (HK$21,120), which is named after the year the house was founded. This sculptural box bag may look minimalist but it's also a lesson in luxury: each one is crafted, assembled and finished by a single artisan and composed of 97 pieces. Made from lamb and calf leather, it comes in all black or two of the season's hottest shades, vintage pink (above right) and cobalt blue (below right). Monochrome accents and light gold hardware add a contemporary finish. Smythson is in Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 9100.
