The Dictator: on style, she rules

I saw a photo of Kate Hudson looking fab in a white tank top with leather pants, but not the usual tight ones. These had wider legs. Is that the new style for black leather pants? I want something new!

The Dictator rules: Yes, let’s all try a new style of leather trousers! Seriously? How about a cut that actually suits your body type? What doesn’t work on everybody, but has definitely been in for a few seasons, is the track pant in leather. Actually, ironic, luxury track pants in almost every material are on trend. Valentino has even done a pair of leather jogging pants (HK$35,000). Or rush as quick as you can to Red Valentino, where pleated lambskin trousers with tapered legs are now on sale (originally HK$10,150). You could try Neil Barrett’s loose-fitting leather trousers with elasticated waistband and ankle cuffs (HK$11,439; www.stylebop.com). Were you just hoping to find a classic wide-leg trouser cut but in leather? That’s where Adam Lippes can swoop in with his double-faced leather trousers (HK$19,740; www.net-a-porter.com). As far as I can tell, you saw Kate Hudson wearing pleated culottes from Alice + Olivia’s resort 2015 collection (in stores late autumn), although they aren’t actually leather. But, true enough, there is a trend towards looser cuts for cowhide trousers. Raoul makes lambskin, mid-length culottes with a high waistline (HK$5,968; www.couturecandy.com) while Paul & Joe has some with a drawstring waist (HK$5,940; www.netaporter.com).

Help! I got sunburned and have a party to go to. Are there any quick fixes? (I don’t need sunscreens. Got those.)
Lobster Loser, East Side

The Dictator: Got sunblock, but didn’t use it. Smart. Let’s face it, you’re screwed. Reckless sun protocol increases your chances of skin cancer. You cannot reverse the damage, but you can reduce the resulting discomfort and redness. If it’s a bad burn, you will peel no matter what you do, but dedicated moisturising can minimise flakey skin. Let’s get started. First, cool down. Nothing beats a cold bath, except a cold bath with two cups of either: green tea (cooled first), to reduce swelling; baking soda for pH balance and to minimise pain and itching; or milk. No bath? Try a cold shower and iced compresses made with the above. Popping some aspirin or ibuprofen also works against not only pain but also inflammation. Next, aloe remains the top choice for sunburn. Try Clinique’s After- Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe (HK$210) or cheaper varieties from Manning’s such as Banana Boat Aloe Vera Gel (HK$86) and Vaseline Aloe Fresh Hydrating Body Gel (HK$38.40). Green makeup primers are designed to counteract redness so give Laneige’s Skin Veil Base (HK$220) a try. Do you dare experiment with body make-up? Check out Kryolan’s Perfect Body Foundation (HK$219) from May’s (JD Mall, 233 Nathan Road, Jordan, tel: 2369 8789).
