Who started it? After inheriting her family’s leather company, Italian designer Luisa Colombo opened her first store in Milan in 1953. Beginning with saddles and harnesses, she expanded into handbags in 1955. The handbags quickly became known for their craftsmanship and individuality, and were made of exotic leathers such as crocodile, lizard and snake skin. Today, the brand is known for its heritage and commitment to quality. It has boutiques in Milan, Seoul and, as of June, Hong Kong.
Why we love it: vivid colours and matte finishes are trademark characteristics of a Colombo handbag, which are available in shapes and sizes to suit every occasion, from a dainty pochette to large tote.

What we’d pick: we love the signature Di Nuovo Wall Street clutch in emerald green (above; HK$138,000), which will make for an eye-catching addition to an autumnal ensemble, as well as the classic Colombo Fabieta in teal (right; HK$148,000).

Where you can get it? Colombo Via Della Spiga is available at Harvey Nichols, The Landmark, Central, tel: 3695 3388.
