Why you can trust SCMP

Icon artist A fan of glam rock and punk, jewellery designer Amanda Assad Mounser draws inspiration from the likes of rebel icons David Bowie, Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop. In 2009, she was named a “new talent” by Italian Vogue and her designs have since been seen on the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus. Gem-encrusted costume jewellery makes up the bulk of Assad Mounser’s collection, which features intricate, ethnic pieces for days when a simple pendant just won’t do. We love the Moon Crystal Square Curb Chain necklace (above left; HK$3,150) and the Neon Spike Crystal Drop earrings (above right; HK$2,150). Assad Mounser is available at Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 2288.

Erbert Chong's designs are not easily forgotten: asymmetrical jackets and ombré fringing on a cheongsam are staples of his collections. His leather goods, however, are a more understated affair, as seen in accessories such as the Lingzi bag, a cross between Céline's trapeze and a hobo bag but with crocodile skin and bold primaries to shake things up. Go for the Lingzi bag with yellow pony hair panels (above right; HK$12,000) or there's the JeTang bag, with black pony hair panels (above left; HK$7,800). Erbert Chong is available at erbertchong.com.
