Boys toys from Beats by Dre, New Era, G-Star Raw, Prada

The Gonz age Mark "The Gonz" Gonzales is a "lege" among skateboarders as much for his non-"poser" and un-"sketchy" sense of style as his "sick" moves. We have no idea what any of that really means but The Gonz has worked with the likes of Adidas and cap maker New Era on some cool skater gear. We like these two hats from the Mark Gonzales x New Era Japan collection (above left and right; HK$459 to HK$499) that look street ready and "gnarly". OK, we'll stop. New Era is in Park Hotel, 61 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Prada went all , or , for its spring-summer men's collection, with a distinctly vintage feel. We are particularly impressed by this Shaft-like look dominated by a luxurious brown leather coat (HK$34,350) worn with knitwear (HK$11,250), a shirt (HK$4,150), loose-fitting trousers (HK$5,350) and a leather belt (HK$3,600; all above left). The sandals haven't been priced for Hong Kong, but seriously you'd want to be wearing shoes with this look, after all Shaft never wore sandals. We also like this relaxed weekend look of knitwear top (HK$8,550), loose trousers (HK$11,250) and leather belt (HK$3,600; all above right); these sandals are not available in Hong Kong either. Prada is in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Raw appeal Dutch denim maverick G-Star Raw only recently got into the eyewear game, but it's hit upon a style that's distinctive and very masculine, so it's right up our street. We like the GS620S glasses (top; HK$1,975), which have that classic feel and a brown lens tint, and the no-nonsense GS625S (above; HK$1,650), which look like the kind of sunglasses that Italian film directors or race car drivers from the 1970s would have worn. That's a good thing. G-Star Raw is in Times Square, Causeway Bay.

Cable news One of the most dishonest phrases in the English language is “tangle-free wires”; there simply is no such thing. If you really do want to rid yourself of cables then wireless is the way to go. The Powerbeats2 Wireless earphones (above left and right; HK$1,798 per pair), from Beats by Dre, run on Bluetooth technology and have up to nine metres of range. Beats by Dre is available at the Apple Store in IFC Mall, Central.
