One of the most prestigious competitions of its kind, the Travel Photographer of the Year awards have been held annually since 2003 and thrown up some spectacular images from all corners of the globe.

As well as the honour for an overall winner, the awards are split into portfolio categories; a New Talent category; an HD video category; an award for photographers aged 18 and under; and, new for 2015, a Smart Shot category (for images shot on a mobile phone or tablet).

Entries for this year will be accepted until October 1, and the organisers are looking for those from this part of the world.

"With so many incredible places, people and events to photograph in China, and with the Chinese people such enthusiastic international travellers, the scope for entrants from China is tremendous," says Travel Photographer of the Year director Karen Coe. "We would love to see that country represented more in the awards, both in terms of entrants and as a subject."
