Quilt edged Scotch & Soda has a well-deserved reputation for making excellent denim (think Japanese fabric quality with European styling) but we have to say we're loving the quilted deck jackets (above; HK$2,990 each) in the Amsterdams Blauw collection, which come in several eye-catching patterns. Scotch & Soda is in IFC Mall, Central.

Buckling under pressure Too many men spend big on suits but tragically neglect to invest in accessories. Would you buy a Bentley and then put the cheapest tyres on it? Belts are usually where guys get lazy, so we suggest heading to Club Monaco. Our picks include the brown suede belt (above left; HK$790) and the wonderful Donegal wool version (above right; HK$890). Club Monaco - The Men's Shop is in Bo Fung Mansion, St Francis Yard, Wan Chai.

Fitting tribute It is a fact that Asian physiques are generally smaller than those in Europe, and the climate in the two regions can differ wildly. Yet a lot of high-fashion brands don't even bother to acknowledge the East/West divide in menswear. Giorgio Armani, on the other hand, continually finds the right balance of fabric and fit for guys everywhere. We love this loose but tailored look of textured wool and silk jacket (HK$22,000) that comes with the matching waistcoat (HK$8,800) and drop-crotch trousers (HK$12,000), with a wool and cashmere patterned cardigan (HK$12,000; all above right) underneath. We also like this more Nordic look of single-breasted, light grey wool jersey jacket (HK$21,000) with matching trousers (HK$18,000), an alpaca wool cowl collar (HK$4,700), brown deerskin gloves (HK$10,000) and, the piece de resistance, the rabbit fur hat (HK$18,000; all above left). Sadly, the bag hasn't been priced for Hong Kong yet. Giorgio Armani is in Chater House, Central.

Go Green If you've got pairs of brogues, Derbies, Oxfords, boaters, chukkas, loafers, slip-ons and double and single monk straps, first of all, bravo on an excellent shoe collection. All you are really lacking now is boots, in particular the classic Chelsea boot (above left; HK$9,129), which British shoemaker Edward Green excels at making. We also recommend the brand's Galway robust cap-toe leather boot (above right; also HK$9,129). Edward Green is available from www.mrporter.com.
