by Kerry Egan (read by the author)
If you’ve ever wondered what a hospice chaplain does, buy this book. Kerry Egan, the author and narrator, has sat with many people facing death, trying to calm them and hearing the stories they want to tell. Religion often doesn’t come into it because what people want to talk about is their families. Among the stories she hears is one from a woman named Gloria, who has been waiting to meet a writer so she can reveal her secret: the baby she conceived with her best friend’s boyfriend, and how she got the child back after she had given him up for adoption. Gloria, the impetus for the book, had wanted Egan to break the news to her grown son. Within weeks Gloria was able to tell him herself. On Living is difficult, emotional but rewarding.
