What’s the story? A former gemologist at auction house Bonhams, Hong Kong-raised Karishma Sani studied jewellery design, computer-aided design and manufacturing at the Gemological Institute of America. After working as an antique and estate jewellery dealer, last year she founded her own brand, Kasané.

Why we love it: Kasané creates unfussy statement jewellery for the modern woman. Whether the versatile designs are worn at a formal event or with a T-shirt and jeans, they are always flattering. The products are handcrafted and feature pearls, cubic zirconia and sterling silver plated in either 18-carat gold or rhodium.

What we’d pick: bring on the bling by stacking together a series of gold double bands. We’re loving the plain (HK$1,310) and pavé frosted versions (HK$1,595; both top); the latter looks edgy and expensive. Second prize goes to the Evil Eye collection, which includes a necklace (HK$2,440), earring (HK$1,163), midi ring (HK$698), cross ring (HK$1,163), pearl cross ring (HK$1,163), chain ring (HK$1,088) and bracelet (HK$1,380; all above).
