K-pop charm dazzles
Where Giorgio Armani store, Canton Road
As about 400 guests gathered at Giorgio Armani's spacious, new store on Canton Road, a crowd of onlookers waited outside for a glimpse of guest-of-honour Choi Si-won of Korean boyband Super Junior. At least one enthusiastic fan fainted at the scene. Choi was also a hit among the VIPs, and often stopped among them for small talk and photo-taking.
The brand's Roberta Armani hosted the cocktail party, and many guests flew in from afar to join the soirée, including actress Zhang Ziyi, beauty pageant winner Zhang Zilin (below left) and model He Sui (below right). Having checked out the splendid store, the elite crowd moved on to a gala dinner at the nearby SKY100 Hong Kong Observation Deck, where a retrospective exhibition titled "The Eccentrico" showcased the fashion maestro's legendary portfolio of fashion, accessories and jewellery. I'd have to say the chartreuse Giorgio Armani gown that I wore for the Golden Globes in 2006. We picked out the fabric together in the brand's factory in Milan. The whole experience was very interesting and memorable.
It's big! I've only seen half of it, so far.
I'll be keeping things simple with a black dress.
