EVENT Shanghai Affairs, Hugo Boss Autumn-Winter 2013 Fashion Show
WHERE Power Station of Art, Shanghai
Happenings: It seems Hugo Boss has been on a roll lately. Following its successful show in Beijing last year, the German fashion house threw a grand soirée in Shanghai to launch its latest autumn-winter collection - only a few days before announcing the recruitment of design wunderkind Jason Wu, known for First Lady Michelle Obama's inauguration dress, to spice up its womenswear as artistic director.
A constellation of stars were flown in for the event, including Carey Mulligan and Gerard Butler, who both were first-time visitors to the mainland. While the international stars flaunted their charm on the black carpet, homegrown celebrities, such as actors Chow Yun-fat and Huang Xiaoming, and Taiwanese model-actress Lin Chi-ling, rubbed shoulders with the fashion house's top executives.
The runway show was streamed live on the brand's website. LED lighting was set up at the former power station to mimic lightning strikes, providing a modern and contemporary backdrop for the sleek fashion show.
