EVENT Giuseppe Zanotti Design Store Opening
WHERE Elements Mall, Tsim Sha Tsui
Happenings: Just in case you haven't noticed, in the few past months, an impressive line-up of international footwear brands have opened shop at the Tsim Sha Tsui mall frequented by residents living in the upscale neighbourhood and tourists. One of the latest labels to join the heated competition is Italian brand Giuseppe Zanotti. The brand's rock 'n'roll-esque designs have built quite a fan base in Hong Kong, including celebrities Joey Yung Cho-yee, Wyman Wong and Hilary Tsui.
Guests turned out at the cocktail reception in skyscraper heels and studded wedges. The brand's CEO, Eugenio Morselli, also flew into town to propose a toast at the event. Italian electro-pop was played at the party.
Seriously, I’d like to see these women in mega-heels taking public transport. Must be phenomenal.
CHIC CHAT with Giuseppe Zanotti
How would you define a pair of perfect heels?
I have not found the perfect heels yet. My only obsession is the search for the perfect shoe.
We love the capsule collection you created with model Anja Rubik. How did she inspire the collection?
It's been [an exciting collaboration] between myself as a designer and Anja, an iconic woman, top model, muse of many of the most important fashion houses. It happened naturally. Our ideas and skills fused together .
How is it different from working with your design team?
I believe it's a great experience and important exercise for both of us. It's just a starting point for Anja. She has huge potential and I see real talent in her.
Who would be your next collaborator?
I've had the opportunity to work with great creative minds and each time it's a new challenge and a discovery. The decision to work with somebody is not something that we plan but a matter of feeling and crossing paths.
