EVENT Louis Vuitton presents ‘Conceptual Walk Through’ Art Exhibition
WHERE Espace Louis Vuitton Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui

Happenings: The French fashion house's art gallery, nestled in the brand's flagship store on Canton Road, was abuzz with an unusual crowd of shoppers who were thinking about their next splurge on arts as much as on shoes and bags. Guests, including actress Carina Lau Kar-ling, businessman Adrian Cheng and cinematic artistic director William Chang, turned out at the exhibition's VIP opening.

The exhibition features Chinese contemporary artist Gao Weigang from northern China and home-grown star Kingsley Ng. Fourteen multimedia exhibits were on display, including Gao's Superstructure, which comprises the imagery of an ascending reflective staircase hung flatly on a wall. The artwork is an abstract referral of the distance between desire and reality. Actress Lau also showed great interest in the installations created by softspoken Ng.

This is so embarrassing! I just mistook a window display for a piece of art!

CHIC CHAT with Carina Lau

Do you appreciate art?

I think art is a necessity in our lives. I'm lucky I had early exposure to art because both my mother and my grandfather are painters.

Why do you love art?

I love art because you can interpret a piece of art in unlimited ways. Sometimes a piece could possibly remind you of something from your childhood, or even take you to the future. I think art makes us a more complete person.

Is art appreciation one of your ways to relax?

It's not the only way. I love jogging because I want to feel the distinctive changes in the four seasons.

Tell us what makes for a perfect day.

I wake up with a smile because I know I didn't do anything that I'd regret, and I go to bed feeling relaxed.
