Roaring party

EVENT Salvatore Ferragamo store opening and party
WHERE Mandarin Oriental, Central

Happenings: It wouldn't be a grand opening in Hong Kong without a lion dance. Folks at Salvatore Ferragamo created unique lion dance costumes made from its silk scarves for the reopening of its revamped Central store. It's been an eventful year for the Italian fashion house. Ferragamo family members and executives travelled to the city for the special event. The store, spanning more than 3,200 sqft, offers the brand's full line of products.

Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen officiated at the opening and continued to party at Ozone. The hip bar at the Ritz-Carlton was lavishly decorated with fresh flower panels. An exhibition featuring photos of celebrity fans wearing Vara shoes was on show. The brand has launched a made-to-order service for its classic Vara shoes to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the iconic style.

I wonder what they’ll do with the lion costumes after this opening. I bet they will have expansion plans on the mainland.

Tell us your off-duty style.
When I’m working, I usually need to dress up, so I love wearing something comfortable and relaxed on my day off. I also love retro vintage style. Salvatore Ferragamo has launched its MTO for Vara shoes.

What would your dream shoes look like?
I love colour blocking. I picked a fuchsia pair and I think a metallic version would be cool too.

Are you going away for Christmas?
I will be working. I’m filming a new adaptation of The Return of the Condor Heroes.

Ever since news broke that you were set to play the ethereal Xiaolongnü, you’ve been criticised by the novel’s fans.
I’m not bothered and I don’t get stressed. I focus on getting my job done.
