EVENT Boucheron Hôtel de la Lumière collection preview
WHERE Galerie Perrotin, Central
HAPPENINGS: Although it was her first trip to Hong Kong, French fine jeweller Boucheron’s creative director Claire Choisne didn’t have much time to see the city. She was kept busy with client appointments, consulting her on high jewellery and bespoke projects. At the preview cocktail, Choisne showcased the latest haute joaillerie inspired by the brand’s atelier in Place Vendôme alongside heritage pieces from its archive. The collection, inspired by the play of light and
shadow, boasts a series of organic designs crafted in precious stones. To demonstrate the design process, Choisne prepared sketches and 3D paper models for bespoke projects.
Actually these origami dummy necklaces have their advantages – light, easy to wear and eco-friendly.
Chic chat with Claire Choisne
Do you see an increase in bespoke orders?
Yes, because I think it’s what defines luxury – to have something exclusive to yourself.
Can you tell me about an impressive bespoke order you recently
I recently did a piece for a beautiful client who has refined tastes. Seeing her wear the piece [gave me a great sense of satisfaction].
We saw a few pieces in the collection that can be worn different ways.
In the Boucheron archive, you can see a lot of pieces like this. For example, a tiara doubles as a necklace.
How does contemporary lifestyle inspire your designs?
I guess it comes out naturally because the design team and I are living in this modern world. For example, today I’m stacking two swan rings together. It’s something different.
