EVENT Jaeger-LeCoultre Proto Zero Campaign Charity Dinner
WHERE W Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui

Happenings: New Year is the best time to display the spirit of charity. Jaeger-LeCoultre recently organised a private dinner in honour of its Proto Zero Campaign, and an array of guests showed up at the luxury watchmaker's event.

Celebrating the campaign's third anniversary and the brand's 180th anniversary, guests, including watch collectors and celebrity fans - action superstar Donnie Yen and model wife Cissy Wang, film producer, Nansun Shi and former Miss Hong Kong Virginia Yung - had the exclusive opportunity to see the five latest additions to the Proto Zero collection.

The campaign, which benefits Hong Kong's End Child Sexual Abuse Foundation, is also backed by actor Louis Koo, who sent his support through a special photo shoot and a short-film campaign for the cause. Shi, vice-chairwoman of the charity, accepted the cheque on the stage. British schoolgirl singer Hollie Steel, 14, was the surprise performer of the night.

Hollie has the voice of an angel ... I wish I was young again!

CHIC CHAT with Donnie Yen

How important is a watch?
Like most men, I like watches. It’s not only functional but also a great fashion statement.

You are here tonight to support Jaeger Le-Coultre’s Proto Zero campaign. How important it is to support local charities?
We have always supported charities. As an artist, it is important to set a good example and bring awareness to different charities. As a parent, tonight’s event is extra meaningful for me.

I hear your daughter Jasmine has just performed at your sister-in-law’s wedding. How do you feel about her going into show business?
It was a special wedding present for her aunt [Irene]. Right now, I think it’s more important for her to focus on her studies. After that, if Jasmine wants to join the business, it’s up to her.

Your latest film The Monkey King is about to come out, how was the filming?
There was a learning curve. It took a couple of weeks to get used to the heavy make-up. The make-up process took around 1,000 hours. I hope I did a good job.
