Christian Louboutin earns honorary degree
If you are constantly mesmerised by the legends of millionaire drop-outs, here comes another one. Footwear designer Christian Louboutin, renowned as the red-sole master, was expelled from school when he was 16 and indulged himself in Parisian nightlife. But now, on top of his prestigious position in the fashion world, he has been presented with an honorary doctorate of fine arts by the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York.
In his keynote speech, he encouraged students from FIT's School of Art and Design and School of Graduate Studies to learn to love and nourish their passion. Cosmetic entrepreneur Bobbi Brown and FIT Trustee Emeritus John J. Pomerantz were also honoured in the commencement exercises, joining the ranks of Annie Leibovitz, Anna Wintour and Oscar de la Renta.
