EVENT Franck Muller Maison Opening Party
WHERE Franck Muller Flagship Maison, Causeway Bay

HAPPENING: It was a full day of glitz and glamour at the opening of Franck Muller's newest flagship store. Brand ambassador Julian Cheung and actress Carina Lau started the event in the afternoon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, before watch aficionados, celebrities and socialites flocked to the four-storey, 6,000 sq ft Causeway Bay venue to celebrate in the evening.

Stepping into the party, guests including Vanness Wu, Chrissie Chau, and Bernice Liu were offered glasses of bubbly and a visual treat of the brand's signature timepieces, including its Crazy Hours collections. After a magical performance by a silhouette artist at the entrance, partygoers sampled tasty treats from the venue's two new restaurants - Francesco by Franck Muller, serving Italian bites with a Japanese twist, and Chinese fare at Eighteen Sharp.

OVERHEARD Crazy Hours is so right ... it's crazy how fast time passed tonight.

CHIC CHAT with Carina Lau

Your play Tonnochy opened last month. What was it like going back to theatre work after a long hiatus?
We had eight-hour rehearsals almost daily and a total of 26 shows and no substitutes, so it was important for me to keep my body and mind fit. I stopped drinking alcohol to prepare.

What's the difference between filming a movie and performing onstage?
With movies, there are special effects and retakes. With theatre work, we always have to be alert and fully prepared. On that note, filming a movie can be much easier.

What was the most difficult part?
I was living, sleeping and breathing the dialogue. No matter what I was doing, I was reciting and remembering my lines.
