René Caovilla, the Venice-based brand famous for its lavishly decorated evening sandals, collaborated with Lane Crawford for a special capsule collection. Instead of its usual red-carpet styles, the Italian shoemaker tapped the retro-esque kitten heels for a change. The new styles took inspiration from Caovilla's archives.

The brand's creative director and third-generation member of the founding family, Edoardo Caovilla, flew in from Italy especially for the launch. We spotted the city's well-heeled crowd mingling with the designer. Caovilla met and greeted fans, posed for pictures, and signed the crystal-studded soles of their newly purchased heels.
