2015 marks a big year for fans of the Back to the Future trilogy. After all, it was the year Marty McFly travelled forward in time and experienced hoverboards and Nike’s self-tying power lace trainers among other things.
Super fans, the time has come. Lexus has produced a prototype called SLIDE, a stylish hoverboard which looks much slicker than the one Marty McFly rode in the 1989 film.
First teased in June, the brand revealed the product on August 5.. According to the brand, the hoverboard relies on superconductors, magnets and liquid nitrogen to work against gravity.
At the current stage, SLIDE only works on a dedicated custom-crafted course where magnets have been built into the ground.
We have to admit it’s a pretty nifty way to travel – once you get the hang of it …
