Gone are the days when celebrities are simply the faces of beauty campaigns. We checked out five latest offerings that focus on natural ingredients and philosophy.
Lyanature by Lee Young-ae
While Lee embraces the concept of “less is more” with her collection and products, the actress was extremely hands-on with the production of her first collection. From the formulation and creation to the casting, the star was heavily involved to ensure her 100% preservatives-free products best reflect her vision.
Hero Product: The all-in-one preservative-free Creme’all (HK$1,150) replenishes the skin with botanical and algae extracts.
We caught up with creative director Bo Kyung Lee of Lyanature by Korean actress Lee Young-ae at the launch of her new collection at Joyce Beauty last week.
Was Lee Young-ae very hands-on with the project?
Yes, she has been [heavily] involved in creating the products, selecting the ingredients, and even during the casting.
Can you tell us more about her beauty philosophy?
Lee wants to live a very natural lifestyle, so she moved to the countryside with her children. She [wants] to use non-hazardous ingredients to create healthier products that are good for the skin and the future of our environment. That’s why she decided to use 100% botanical leaves. [Lee] worked with an expert dermatologist, who formulates all products in a lab that is a five-minute walk away from her house.
How is Lyanature adopting the “less is more” concept?
Many of us use 10 to11 products, which are way too many! I think using fewer but more effective products is better. You can use the Morning Mist to blend with the cream and adjust the amount of product you use in different seasons and for different skin conditions.
Do you see there’s a trend of brands creating beauty products for children as well?
Definitely, Lee Young-ae created this brand because of her children. After giving birth, she wanted to find products that are non-hazardous to her skin and her children’s skin. When you look at baby products, they don’t use chemical ingredients like fragrances or mineral oils as components.
Can you share with us an everyday beauty routine?
Lee’s daily routine is using the cleanser, toner, moisturiser and the beauty oil. But depending on the skin type, you can adjust how much you use. Creme’all is designed to reduce the amount of products you use. It acts as a lotion, serum, moisturiser, cream and basically it’s an all-in-one. You always have to blend it with the Morning Mist. We make it this way in order not to use preservatives. When we say “customised”, what we mean is your own blending of the cream and the mist. You can easily adapt to changing seasons, for example, from summer to winter.
What’s your definition of perfect skin?
Perfect skin is healthy skin. Healthy and naturally radiant.
