10 times Instagram ‘hot monk’ Paing Takhon sent hearts racing by heating up regular careers
No, he is not an actual monk – although he did complete a 10-day stint as one earlier this year. Paing Takhon is a 24-year-old actor-model from Myanmar, and while he might have found peace thanks to his time as a monk, his followers seem to be experiencing quite the opposite. His unexpectedly sexy look sent Instagrammers into a frenzy, ballooning his follower count to 1.1 million.
Paing began modelling in 2014 and has featured in numerous commercials, TV shows, cover shoots and music videos across Myanmar and Thailand.
He also apparently has a penchant for cosplaying other careers. Here are 10 more times we swooned over the model.
Covid-era businessman
Paing elevates a standard white dress shirt and black trousers combination with slick shoes and accessories, nailing the “salary man rushing to the office amid the pandemic” look. “Hard working man,” gushed one follower.
Chef
If anyone can make a toque blanche look attractive, it’s Paing Takhon. Rocking a white chef uniform, he asked in the photo’s caption, “What do you want to eat?” A flurry of thirsty answers that had absolutely nothing to do with farm-raised produce inevitably ensued.
Rancher
Speaking of farm-raised produce, the 1.88-metre-tall (six-foot, two-inch) Paing would also make a rather dishy organic ranch farmer. Here he is tending to the day’s chores.
Art teacher
One of Paing’s many talents is painting; he’s showcased his work multiple times online. But we’re probably not the only ones dreaming of an art class taught by the man himself.
Uber driver
If Uber drivers looked like this, other forms of transport would go out of business. Paing looks every bit the professional chauffeur of an Uber Lux, where we’d need to be told twice to get out of the front seat.
Street vendor
Fans swooned over this image of Paing working a street cart, captioned in Thai, “Papaya salad – delicious and tempting?” It’s definitely not just the papaya salad that some viewers were tempted by.
Thai boxing instructor
In 2019, Paing was appointed Myanmar’s tourism ambassador to Thailand, so he tied his locks up in a bun and tried his hand at Thai boxing. Though it’s unclear if he continued training, he’d surely have no problems finding students to join him in the ring.
Dog walker
Web designer
Born on the border of millennial and Gen Z (1996) Paing is a bit of a tech wizard. He was even hired by mobile phone company Oppo as their brand ambassador. This is what he’d probably look like working from home as a web designer.
Photographer
Paing would probably make a wonderful wedding photographer – he owns a number of cameras and has spent plenty of time on set. Of course, many might prefer it when he turns the camera around.
