Most would agree that being a mother is a full-time job in itself, but there are many women who are able to efficiently juggle both their career and family life. As Mother’s Day is fast approaching on May 8, we take a look at how six of Hong Kong’s most famous faces do it.

1. Gigi Lai

Gigi Lai took over her brother’s medical aesthetic centre when he was seriously injured in a car crash in 2007. In 2009, she announced her retirement from acting so she could focus on family life with businessman Patrick Ma Ting-kung, as well as continuing her sibling’s business.

She gave birth to their twin girls in 2010 and another daughter in 2012. But her role as a doting mother hasn’t stopped her from building an incredible beauty empire, earning her the title “Goddess of Beauty”. She is the CEO of CosMax cosmetics, which is now a listed company that has branches in prime locations and offers its own skincare products.

She started her modelling career when she was 17, walking on runways for fashion heavyweights in Paris, Milan and Tokyo until she became a single mum at the age of 24.
