2. Serena Williams – Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Black Panther (US$650,000)
The 23-time Grand Slam winner and Audemars Piguet’s partnership began in 2014. The queen of the court has opted for many models from the brand’s symbolic Royal Oak collection.
In 2021, Serena Williams showed off one of the 250 limited pieces of Royal Oak Black Panther Flying Tourbillon, a collaboration between the brand and Marvel. The 42mm watch features a titanium case and a black ceramic bezel and crown. More importantly, the dial features a 3D sculpture of the superhero Black Panther hand-painted in white gold and the inner bezel in purple to mimic the colour of vibranium – a fictional purple metal in the Black Panther lore – straddling a pulsating tourbillon.
Its retail price was US$176,000, however, Christie’s estimated it currently costs up to US$650,000. In 2021, its unique version in 18k white gold for the case and bezel created to raise charity funds was sold for US$5.2 million, making it the most expensive Audemars Piguet model ever sold.
1. Rafael Nadal – Richard Mille RM27-04 (US$2.3 million)

In 2020, the Richard Mille RM27-04 was designed to celebrate a decade of their fruitful collaboration, reportedly becoming his most expensive watch. It has a unique dial that’s reminiscent of tennis racquet strings across it. The “strings” reportedly hold the movements over the course of a tennis match. The suspended tourbillon calibre can also withstand accelerations of more than 12,000g – a new resistance record for the brand.
The case is made of a brand new material called TitaCarb exclusive to Richard Mille and titanium, which helps the watch weigh just 30 grams including the blue textile strap. Limited to just 50 pieces, it costs over US$2.3 million on the secondary market, per Chrono.
