Style Edit: Panerai’s Luna Rossa summer timepiece collection – the luxury watch brand expands its Luminor and Luminor Due series in honour of its Italian sailing team
Combining Italian style with Swiss watchmaking, the Quaranta has a steel DLC built PAM01408 and the PAM01404 BiTempo. Both have 40mm case sizes, three-day power reserves and dark-blue bi-material straps. The Quaranta BiTempo PAM01404 features a GMT function.
The PAM01408 and PAM01404 have a click release system, which means the straps can be changed to create different looks.

The Luminor Due models run on Panerai’s in-house P. 900 automatic calibre. The PAM01378 has a 38mm case size and comes with a white Saffiano leather strap. The PAM01381, meanwhile, has a 42mm steel case and has a grey strap made of rubber and textile. Both additions have matte white sandwich dials that feature the Panerai logo and the Luna Rossa inscription.
But it is the Luminor Chrono PAM01519 that is the stand-out timepiece in the new collection. Panerai has created the timepiece as an experience edition which allows owners of the watch to get a first-hand feel for the thrill of sailing and the ocean. By purchasing one of these limited-edition watches, owners will get to take part in a special experience in Cagliari, Italy. Together with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team, the owners of the PAM01519 will take part in various activities and workshops connected to sailing.

In tribute to the sailing experience, the Luminor Chrono PAM01519 also has the Speed Tachymeter scale. This is used to measure the average speed of a yacht over a defined distance. The Luminor Chrono has been limited in production to just 37 timepieces worldwide to celebrate the 37th edition of the America’s Cup due to be held next year.
Panerai is owned by Richemont, a Swiss-based luxury goods holding company. Other exclusive brands owned by the group include Montblanc, Piaget, Cartier and Chloé.
Panerai’s partnership with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team speaks to its legacy of underwater exploration. Adding an experience timepiece to its new collection cements the brand’s commitment to extending its reach beyond a luxury watch purchase.
