IN PICTURES: New photographs capture special bond between hunter and eagle in Mongolia

The Altai Kazakhs are nomads in western Mongolia who hunt on horseback using golden eagles. Here is a selection of images from a new book by Hong Kong-based photographer Palani Mohan, who has spent time with these hunters and their families. Over four years, he documented a way of life that is under threat as children opt to move to the capital Ulan Bator and as the number of eagles diminish in the Altai Mountains.
An exhibition of photographs from the book - Hunting with Eagles - opens at the Foreign Correspondents' Club on November 1.
