TOKYO - A major airport in northern Japan was closed after construction workers found an unexploded bomb believed to be from the second world war. All 92 flights in and out of Sendai airport were cancelled after the 250kg device was uncovered during construction near a runway, police said. The bomb was identified as American-made. Military bomb squad experts were considering whether to move it or explode it on the spot. AP
JAKARTA - An advertisement in Malaysia for cut-price Indonesian maids has gone viral online in Indonesia and sparked outrage over an issue that has long divided the two countries. Indonesian foreign minister Marty Natalegawa has complained and Web users are angry over the flyers that have been tacked to trees in Kuala Lumpur which read "Indonesian maids now on sale!!" "Now your housework and cooking come easy. You can rest and relax. Deposit only 3,500 ringgit [HK$8,822]" reads the ad, which was posted online by an Indonesian campaigner for migrant workers' rights. AFP
