US drone strike kills four militants in Pakistan

Two Pakistani intelligence officials say a suspected American drone strike has killed four alleged militants in the country’s northwestern tribal areas.

The intelligence officials say the strike happened on Monday morning in the town of Datta Khel in North Waziristan.

They didn’t have exact information on which group the militants belonged to but said the area is dominated by fighters of warlords Hafiz Gul Bahadur and the Haqqani network.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak on the record.

Both groups are known to carry out attacks against NATO troops in neighbouring Afghanistan.

It was the second drone strike in as many days. A strike on Sunday in the tribal areas killed three militants.
