Live, eat and play like a panda at ‘wellness retreat’ in Singapore
A panda suit will be provided, and bamboo-inspired dishes have been created for the experience
Pandas rule. They sleep a lot, never run fast, and chew on bamboo shoots. And, if you have been following news on Kai Kai and Jia Jia, well, that is what else pandas get up to when the time is right.
Being human, however, is not usually that much fun. So, if life is difficult in the concrete jungle, here’s the other option — escape to the Pandanctuary, a “wellness retreat” from food delivery service, FoodPanda. The company has teamed up with Studio M Hotel on Nanson Road in Singapore to provide the “ultimate panda experience” for a night.
Pitched at those who want to live like a panda, the company will give one person the chance to stay in a room decked out with bamboo plants, play ropes, and large water bowls.
And yes, the winner of the experience will be given a panda suit to wear, since the retreat was created following research in the UK that showed that over 10,000 people enjoy dressing up as animals.
According to FoodPanda Singapore’s managing director, Aspa Lekka, dressing up as an animal — particularly a relaxed one such as a panda — is “scientifically proven to reduce stress levels ... We wanted to give our busy customers the opportunity to see what it’s like to live like our ‘chilled out’ mascot for the weekend”.
In-room dining comes from Jamie’s Italian, which is serving up a bamboo-inspired menu with dishes and drinks from Bamboo Shoot Risotto to a Bamboo Sling. For guests booking the experience for a birthday or celebration, cakes can also be arranged with bamboo flavours and candles.
