Sarawak, Malaysia, has set a new Guinness World Records for the largest gathering of people dressed in cat costumes.

The feat was announced by Guinness World Records Limited record manager Hoda Khacab, at the Kuching Amphitheatre here this evening.

A total of 440 people, clad in full cat costumes - complete with ears and tail, participated in the event held in conjunction with this year’s Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA 2017), which began yesterday.

Participants had converged at the amphitheatre at about 5pm for the judges to tally the number of crowds involved in the gathering.

Sarawak, in May last year, created another GWR for the world’s longest rattan mat handcrafted by some 400 people among the Orang Ulu community from Belaga and Sungai.

The 1.128km-long mat was also displayed at the amphitheatre during the AIFFA.
