A restaurant employee aged 17 who went missing after work in Fuzhou was found unconscious and bleeding from a head wound the next day, the Southeast Express reports. She was found bleeding and in a coma in a street the next morning. She had no memory of what happened when she awoke later in hospital. Doctors said this was probably due to the sudden shock that caused her wound. 

Two years for bomb hoax

A man has been jailed for two years for a bomb hoax at Xiamen airport, the Haixia Daobao reports. Earlier this year, the man argued with airport security officers  and later dialed a police hotline  to report that a bomb had been planted at the airport. More than 70 security officers searched the  terminal for the bomb before declaring it a hoax.

Illegal kindergarten

A Guangzhou kindergarten has been operating without a licence for more than a decade, Guangzhou Daily reports. The kindergarten had earlier been given three months to comply, but instead started enrolling students under a new name, the Chinese Traditional Culture Training Centre,  this month with fees of up to 1,850 yuan (HK$2,300) a month. A teacher argued that the school operated more professionally than other kindergartens and had received no complaints in 10 years.

Fortune locked up

A woman says she has been frustrated by an investment company that refuses to let her access an account containing 2 million yuan that belonged to deceased brother, Guangzhou Daily reports. The woman, named Li, said her brother died in an accident in Dongguan  two years ago without letting anyone know his password. Li says she needs the money for her sick parents, but the investment firm said Li had given no evidence to prove she was entitled to the money.

 

GUIZHOU

Thanks, but no

Guiyang University has presented each of its 400 first-year students with a welcome gift bag containing a pack of condoms, the Guiyang Evening News reports. They were distributed during a special sex education lecture for the students, many of whom declined to accept them,  saying they were unnecessary.  

Praise unfurled

The newly opened Guizhou Vocational College has hung banners on campus expressing congratulations from nine elite institutes overseas, including some US Ivy League universities and schools in Europe, the Southern Metropolis News  reports. A faculty member said the school had not requested the banners, which were hung by the local district government.

Drunk cops in accident

Two passengers in a Mercedes-Benz died after a head-on collision with a Range Rover SUV carrying two traffic policemen and a driver, the Heilongjiang Morning Post reports. Police later found that the three injured in the Range Rover were drunk. They are recovering in hospital in police custody.

Assault claim to skip fare

A woman in her twenties falsely reported she had been sexually assaulted by a taxi driver just to avoid paying a two yuan fare, Daqing Daily  reports. Police established that the woman was lying when she and the driver were taken to the police station. In the end she paid her bill and apologised to the driver.

Apples with apples

A sales director in Wuchang  who had met his firm’s 300,000 yuan sales goal in return for each member of his team receiving an “Apple 6” was startled to receive just that – six real apples with the number 6 written on them, the Chutian Jinbao reports.  The deal had been a verbal agreement and the director did not have any witnesses to back up his claim that his team should receive iPhones.   The boss said he had not promised iPhones, he just said “apples”.

Mum in pursuit

A mother in Xiangyang  jumped in her car to chase down a train to Yantai, Shandong  province after her 16-year-old daughter sent her a text message saying she had run away with a boy she met online months before. The mother also alerted police, who found the young couple on board before the parents caught up them at the railway station in Xinxiang , Henan.

Rude dude in the nude

Residents of a block of flats in Xian  have been warned to be on the lookout for a mysterious naked man acting indecently in elevators, Shaanxi TV reports. The man, aged about 20, usually appeared during the busiest hours of the day, between the 10th and 14th floors. Despite warning notices, the man has not been caught.

Dog bites pupils

A street dog in Xian has bitten and injured seven pupils on their way to school, Shaanxi TV reports. In the latest attack,  a 64-year-old woman was also bitten four times when she rescued a boy who suffered 10 bite marks to his legs. The boy’s father later found the dog and killed it with a steel pole.  However, none of the victims knew where to report the incident for compensation. The child’s mother said the family could barely afford her treatment and vaccines.

Body snatchers

A family gathered at a funeral parlour in Jintang  county only to find that the body of their loved one was missing, the newssc.org reports. Before the cremation, staff told relatives a variety of excuses not to see the body. The man, 50, died of a heart attack. Relatives suspect the body was stolen to sell its organs. The parlour will pay 150,000 yuan to the family in compensation.

Teacher investigated

A primary school teacher in Ziyang  forced a third-grade pupil to get down on his knees in front of the whole class to admit his mistakes, The Beijing News reports. The teacher remains in her post and the boy is attending school as usual while the local education bureau investigates the matter.

Street cleaner jailed

A street cleaner has been jailed for two years in Wenzhou  for damaging public transport facilities, the Wenzhou Evening News reports. The culprit named Chen, 39,  broke into a traffic light control box and shut down all the lights on the street, which caused three accidents. Chen’s wife will appeal because Chen has mental problems.

Trap turns deadly

Three villagers in Wenzhou who built an electric fence to capture wild boars  disposed of the body of a man who was accidentally killed in the device, Wenzhou Metropolis Daily  reports. The victim’s body was found by his father after he had been missing for a night. One of the men turned himself in and helped police capture the other two. They had heard that a wild boar could be sold for 1,500 yuan.
