A man has been ordered to pay 500 yuan (HK$632) in compensation after he was caught peeking at a neighbour taking a bath, the news website Cqnews.net reports. The man and woman have a shared bathroom at their residential compound in Jiulongpo district. The lock was broken so she put a chair against the door, but found her neighbour pushing it open and watching her.
Rail crime crackdown
The railway police in the municipality have released results of a crackdown on crime during the National Day holidays, Legal Daily reports. During the campaign, police uncovered 43 cases of illegal ticket sales and seized 432 counterfeit train tickets.

Family feud over pet peeve
Two rich neighbours in Shenzhen are involved in a feud sparked by complaints over one of the family's dogs, the Southern Metropolis News reports. One neighbour has two large dogs and likes to walk them without a leash. The animals have run into the neighbour's property a number of times and frightened two elderly family members. In retaliation, the family alleged online that their neighbour, a government official, has another home that has not been declared as an asset to the authorities. The dog owner has made the same allegation against their neighbour. The authorities are investigating the allegations.
Dating fraudster jailed
A 23-year-old man from Guangzhou has been jailed for fraud after he posed as a well-paid policeman on a dating website to attract girlfriends, the Southern Metropolis News reports. The man had sex with four women after promising them he would marry them. After he slept with the women a few times he would disappear. The man worked for a security firm, but claimed online that he earned 13,000 yuan a month as a police officer. He was jailed for one year and nine months.

Search for daughter
A mother in Zhengzhou has placed an advertisement in a local newspaper in a quest find the daughter she gave up for adoption 31 years ago, the Dongfang Jinbao reports. The woman gave away her daughter after she was born because she was under pressure from her mother-in-law to give birth to a boy. She later had a son and another daughter. The woman said she wanted to give her lost daughter a flat as a gift if she is reunited with the family.
Sued over joy-ride death
A family in Zhoukou is suing a public park after their five-year-old daughter was killed on a miniature train ride, Dahe Daily reports. The girl was run over as she was getting off the train. She died later in hospital. The family alleges that the train failed to stop quickly and there was a lack of supervision and security on the ride.

Son seeks out hitman
A 17-year-old boy in Changsha threatened to hire gangsters to kill his father after he was repeatedly told off about his bad schoolwork, the Legal Weekly reports. The father contacted the police after his son went missing. Police found records of the boy chatting online about hiring a hitman. They tracked him down to an internet cafe.
Airport bomb hoaxer
A young man in Yiyang was jailed for two years after he made anonymous phone calls to four different airports saying there were bombs on board planes, the news website Voc.com.cn reports. Airports in Changsha, Shenzhen, Fuzhou and Nanchang had to delay flights and arrange security checks.

Detained for assault claim
A couple in Chifeng have been detained by the police after the woman falsely claimed she had almost been raped at a hotel, the news website Northnews.cn reports. The couple was angry they lost a booking fee at the hotel and allegedly made up the story to get back at the business. The woman had claimed she was nearly attacked because the door of a hotel room was broken and could not be locked. The couple will be held in detention for 10 days.
Car park conflict
A man in Jinchuan near Hohhot was arrested after he allegedly vandalised a car in a dispute over a parking space, the new website Northnews.cn reports. The man's friend was arguing with another motorist over the parking spot at a residential compound. The man joined in the dispute and allegedly smashed the car's front light and bumper. The victim called the police and the man was arrested.

Runaway grade guilt
Two teenage girls in Pizhou ran away from boarding school because they were ashamed by their marks, the Modern Express reports. The two 14-year-olds left a letter at the school saying they felt guilty about their grades. Police found them a day later.
Boy jumps to death
A 15-year-old boy in Yancheng has died after jumping off a five-storey building because his parents lectured him about his poor performance at school, the Modern Express reports. The boy died in hospital during a 10-hour operation to treat his injuries. Police were told by the family's neighbours that the boy had been told off before this death.
Sichuan
Judge kicks policeman
A judge in Mianzhu near Deyang has been suspended for drinking and driving and attacking a policeman who stopped him for breath test, Chengdu Economic Daily reports. The officer was kicked and shoved by the judge. The policemen later put a post online about the judge's behaviour. It was seen by the local legal authorities and an investigation launched.
Raped schoolgirls
A man from Zigong has been jailed for 10 years for raping two schoolgirls, the news website Newssc.org reports. The 42-year-old was drunk and stopped the two girls on their way home from school. He lured them into woods and raped them. He was arrested after the girls' families contacted the police. He had previously serviced nine years in jail for rape.
Zhejiang
Flaming flat row
A woman in Wenzhou set fire to her and her boyfriend's flat after they argued about their relationship, the Qianjiang Evening News reports. The boyfriend went to sleep after they fought and was woken by heavy smoke. He rushed out of the bedroom room and found his girlfriend with her hair on fire. They escaped from the flat and found the entire fifth floor was ablaze. Their neighbours all managed to escape. Police are questioning the couple. The couple's flat was badly damaged in the blaze.
Gambling addict jailed
A 31-year-old housewife from Wenzhou has been jailed for life for fraud after she took 140 million yuan from people she knew, promising to invest it for higher returns, and then gambled it away, the Qianjiang Evening News reports. The woman came from a rich family and was bored at home raising twins. She became addicted to gambling after visiting Macau, and invented the investment scam as a way to pay back her mounting debts .
