Mother's milk knockout
A three-month-old infant in Gejiaba township became drunk after his mother breastfed him following a night of drinking, the Chongqing Morning Post  reports. The mother went to dinner with friends and downed several shots of hard liquor as she had done in the past. She returned home and breastfed her son as usual but later could not wake him up. She sent him to hospital where a doctor found he was drunk. The baby woke up after regurgitating the milk.
Drunk kills joggers
Four morning joggers died and another was hurt when a drunk driver ploughed into them in Jiangjin district, the news website Ifeng.com reports. Two died at the scene and another two died in hospital. The survivor is out of danger. The driver failed a blood alcohol test and is in police custody.

Thief cracks 14 cars
A robber in Foshan vandalised 14 expensive cars in a residential compound and stole valuable items from them in a night-time raid, the New Express reports. Car owners and security staff were surprised the thief could damage the cars without tripping their alarms. CCTV footage showed the thief using a special tool to cut the cars' windows. He is still at large .
Rapist robber jailed
A 50-year-old man in Jiangmen was jailed for 13 years for robbing and assaulting four elderly women, the Southern Metropolis News reports. A woman, 70, told police that a man robbed her of 100 yuan (HK$126) and tried to rape her. Three other victims reported similar incidents to police. Two were raped and robbed of 800 yuan. The local court also fined the man 20,000 yuan.

Students escape fire
Hundreds of students were evacuated after a girls' dormitory caught fire at Guangxi Normal University in Nanning , the Nanguo Zaobao reports. The fire started in one dormitory on the seventh floor and soon spread to another dormitory next door. No one was injured and firemen extinguished the blaze. The school is investigating the cause.
Grandpa kills abductor
An old man in Longlin county has been jailed for eight years for beating to death a human trafficker who tried to kidnap his grandson, Chinacourt.org reports. The man was convicted for intentional injury. The grandfather chased the smuggler when he tried to take the boy away on a motorcycle. He then stopped the smuggler, beat him up, tied him to the motorcycle and took him to the police station. The trafficker fell into a coma and died later in hospital.

Uproar over dog killers
Four young men in Fuzhou who killed two street dogs and skinned them in public have been criticised by residents for abusing the animals, the Southeastern Express reports. The four beat the dogs to death with poles and butchered them. Residents asked them to stop and reported them to the residential committee.
Father sold baby for debt
A Zhangzhou man has been arrested for selling his newborn daughter to cover debts, the news website Fjsen.com reports. Police found the girl, who was not even a month old, when they busted a human trafficking ring. They later discovered the father had sold her for 19,800 yuan to repay debts. The cases involving the father and the traffickers will be handled by state prosecutors.

Underaged burglars
A 13-year-old boarding school dropout from a wealthy family led a gang of dozens of teenagers in a series of robberies, the Sanxiang Dushibao reports. Police said the boy also fled his family home with millions of yuan in assets. At first a few students were robbed near their school, then a nearby internet cafe was targeted. Police tracked down the young robbers but they all had to be to sent home because they were under 14, the age of criminal responsibility on the mainland.
Date fraudster jailed
A man was sentenced to 10-1/2 years in jail for defrauding a woman he dated online and promised to marry out of 620,000 yuan, the news website Voc.com.cn reports. The divorced woman met the man online three years ago, and wired money to him many times. He was ordered to repay the woman.

Jilter shot dead
A woman in Nanjing shot her former boyfriend to death in revenge over their break-up, the Modern Express reports. The woman had been pregnant but she had an abortion as requested by the man. She then discovered he was dating other women. She asked a few friends to beat him up "to teach him a lesson" but he insisted on breaking up so she fetched a gun and shot him in the face. She faces intentional injury charges.
Botched caesarean
A woman in Huaian who suffered abdominal pain for seven years after giving birth is suing a hospital after doctors discovered her condition was caused by a piece of gauze left in her body from a previous caesarean section, the Modern Express reports. The court heard the woman had been in constant pain and spent a lot of money treating her condition. Doctors discovered the piece of gauze while operating on what they thought was a malignant tumour. The court ordered the hospital to pay her 110,000 yuan.

Hawker killed
A male vegetable seller killed a female hawker in a fight over space at a farmer's market in Yang county, near Hanzhong , Huashang Daily reports. The two argued on the street over who arrived at the spot first. The man lost his temper and beat the woman until she was unconscious. The man fled and the woman, aged about 50, died. Police are searching for the man.
Judge suspected of rape
A deputy chief judge in Yulin was arrested after allegedly raping a female colleague, Huashang Daily reports. The two had dinner after work. The woman got drunk and went to her dormitory to sleep, but the man allegedly followed her. Police are investigating.

Boy stabbed to death
A man fled after stabbing a 12-year-old schoolboy to death in broad daylight in Hangzhou , the Qianjiang Evening News reports. The boy was walking with other pupils to a tutorial class after school when the man suddenly attacked him. The other students rushed to get a teacher and called police. The man's motive is not known.
No luck for lark lark
Police in Hangzhou found an unusual cargo on a truck during a routine inspection - 1,200 wild larks - the news website Xinhuanet.com reports. The police heard strange noises coming from the truck and found six large boxes containing the birds, which are a protected species. Police detained the smugglers but freed the larks.
