Teenage love rivals brawl; driver hides 13 passengers in bus toilet

The first civil airport at Renhuai , where the Kweichow Moutai Company produces its well-known Chinese liquor, is due to start operating in June 2016, the newspaper reports. The project has formally been approved by the authorities. The single-runway airport is expected to cost 1.6 billion yuan.

Police had to intervene after a 16-year-old girl beat up a 14-year-old love rival in the street in Qionghai , the reports. The older girl had given birth a month before and accused the other teenager of having an affair with her 17-year-old boyfriend. She learned of the relationship when she went to her boyfriend's home and an argument ensued. The parents of the three teenagers are trying to mediate in the dispute.
A fraudster from Tunchang county was sentenced to four years in jail by a court in Haikou for swindling a businessman out of 118,000 yuan, the reports. The man promised to renovate a student dormitory and said he needed the money to bribe leaders at the college to win the contract. He then made off with the cash.
A driver tried to squeeze 13 passengers travelling on an overcrowded long-distance bus into a one-metre-square toilet during a random vehicle inspection, the reports. Inspectors in Yifeng county said that when they asked the driver why the toilet was locked, he mumbled that the door was broken. The authorities fined the bus driver 1,000 yuan and deducted 12 points off his driving licence.
The deputy secretary of the Hengyang transport department is under investigation for allegedly taking illegal drugs, reports. An unnamed source said that Zhao Yingfang had wet himself in an attempt to avoid taking a urine test. The report said others in the department have also been accused of drug taking.
People scrambled to pick up coins as police in Taiyuan publicly destroyed more than 1,300 slot machines on Wednesday, Xinhua reports. It was part of a crackdown on gambling. Police said they had stopped 45 groups in the city who were using the machines for gambling.

Zhang Chenglin said he exercised every day by walking 1,000 steps and taking 200 stairs inside his residential block. The former construction worker only quit his job at the age of 78.
