Families in Hefei are increasingly employing nutritionists to help them improve their diet, the news website Anhuinews.com reports. They typically pay an expert about 3,500 yuan (HK$4,400) a month to get advice on recipes and the right foods to eat, the report said. Companies are also hiring nutritionists to give lectures to their staff.

Hefei's education authority is trying to encourage primary and middle school pupils to save energy, the news website Anhuinews.com reports. Schools have put "save electricity" labels next to light switches. Some schools will also recycle old textbooks at the end of each term. Pupils have been taught to make handicrafts using household rubbish such as shoeboxes and old wall calendars.
