Male prostitution ring
Police in Wuhu have arrested three men alleged to be male prostitutes, the news website Ahcaijing.com reports. Police said that a gay sex prostitution ring had been active on social media. The men are said to have met clients in hotels under the guise of giving a massage. One of the men tested positive for HIV.
Attacked with knife
A man in Tongling has been jailed for a year for a knife attack on another man whom he thought was harassing his girlfriend, the news website Anhui.cc reports. The attacker heard an argument between the victim and the girlfriend, who were acquaintances, over the phone. He arranged to meet the man later and attacked him with a knife. The assaulted man ran to the police covered in blood, the report said.

Rage against the ATM
A man has been arrested in Fuzhou for allegedly vandalising an ATM and three cars parked outside a bank on Tuesday, Strait City Daily reports. People saw him breaking the screen of the ATM and smashing the windows of three cars with a parking sign, but nobody dared to get close to the man. He was arrested. Police said his excuse was he had problems at work.
Runaway brides
The number of divorces involving Vietnamese brides has risen sharply in Yongding county near Longyan , the news website Taihainet.com reports. Court records show there were 15 divorce cases involving the migrants last year. There was just one similar case four years ago. Men, often from poorer areas on the mainland, are increasingly paying agencies thousands of yuan to find a bride from Vietnam due to a shortage of available partners where they live. The latest divorce was sought this month in Longyan after a bride disappeared three months into their marriage.

Untidy bed punishment
More than 100 students boarding at a vocational school in Dongguan have been punished every day for not making their bed properly, Guangzhou Daily reports. They were forced to do hundreds of sit-ups and other exercises if teachers found their beds were not neatly made. A school representative said making a bed was a test of the pupils' patience and determination, and asking them to do physical exercises was not a punishment.
Held over sex sting
Four people have been arrested in Shenzhen for allegedly blackmailing a 42-year-old man from Hong Kong, the news website Sz.bendibao.com reports. The man used to pay one of the four, a young woman, for sex and would ask her to introduce her friends for the same purpose. After he had sex with a woman, several men stormed into the room saying she had been raped. They demanded he hand over 2 million yuan (HK$2.5 million). The man transferred 440,000 yuan to them, but later reported the case to the police.

Grey winter migration
Elderly people travelling to Sanya in the winter to enjoy the city's warmer weather are boosting the resort's housing market, the news website Hexun.com reports. About 300,000 elderly from elsewhere spend the winter in Sanya.
Criminal gang jailed
A criminal gang based in Linggao county has been jailed, Hainan Daily reports. The 27 criminals were found guilty of arson and murder carried out over a seven-year period. One gang member was sentenced to death. The gang earned about 3.8 million yuan from their crimes.

Computer game warning
Students at Henan University of Technology in Zhengzhou held a mock funeral to warn others of the dangers of playing computer games for long stints, Dahe Daily reports. The photograph of the event, complete with an open casket and a crowd in mourning, went viral on social media. "Students should not become slaves of the internet," event organiser Liao Xuebin said. "We need to learn how to use it correctly and enjoy college life."
Blood shortage
The province's blood bank overseen by the Red Cross Society is in dire need of donations, with only three to four days of supplies, the news website Chinanews.com reports. Blood banks are supposed to have seven to 15 days' supplies. A Red Cross official said the province introduced a programme four years ago to build 43 new hospitals and the blood bank's supplies were stretched too thin.

Luxury cars wrecked
Two children caused 400,000 yuan worth of damage by hurling rocks at 11 new luxury cars at a dealership in Weihai , Xinhua reports. The children were traced by the police. Their parents are negotiating compensation with the car dealership.
12 needles in baby
Twelve steel needles have been found inside an 11-month-old baby girl's body after a check-up at a hospital in Jinan , the news website Iqilu.com reports. The parents took their daughter to the hospital after strange red dots appeared on the baby's bottom. The child's parents said they have no idea who put the needles into the child and that somebody must have been harming their daughter. A doctor said removing the needles would be very difficult.

Phone thief arrested
A man who stole a mobile phone from an unattended shop in Kunming last month has been arrested and has returned the handset, the news website Yunnan.cn reports. The man meant to buy a mobile phone case in the shop, but seeing no shopkeeper around and a key in a locked display case, he decided to take the phone instead. The shop owner found surveillance footage of the thief and called the police.
1,000 exam cheaters
More than 1,000 candidates for a national licensed pharmacist exam have been caught cheating using wireless electronic devices, the news website Yunnan.cn reports. More than 24,000 pharmacist hopefuls took the annual exam in the province on October 18. Cheating has been rampant, and network experts were onsite to detect suspicious frequencies. The cheaters used the devices to receive answers from someone outside the exam hall.
ZHEJIANG
Damages over booze death
A restaurant has been ordered by a court in Hangzhou to pay the family of one of its employees who died from overdrinking more than 240,000 yuan in compensation, the Today Morning Express reports. The woman threw up constantly after work one night and told her boyfriend she had been asked to drink with customers. She died the next morning of alcohol poisoning. Her family said the restaurant was entirely to blame for her death.
Murder suspects arrested
Police in Yiwu said they detained two people who allegedly went on the run after killing three people in a gold jewellery shop, the Qianjiang Evening News reports. The breakthrough came after Heilongjiang police investigated the pair in a vandalism case and linked them to the crime in Yiwu.
