A 42-year-old man who smashed his car into five others - including two police vehicles - while high on drugs has been jailed for five years and eight months for endangering public security, the Beijing Times reports. No one was injured in the incident in November last year. He was also fined 56,000 yuan (HK$70,000).

More than 700 garment wholesalers who previously worked at a huge market in southern Beijing have relocated 140km away to Baoding in Hebei as part of the capital city's plan to limit its population growth, the Beijing Times reports. Some of the wholesalers said they planned to settle in Hebei where housing was much more affordable than Beijing. But others are worried their businesses will suffer.
