A doctoral student in the capital allegedly killed her one-year-old adopted daughter and told doctors she had died after falling off her bed, the Mirror reports. The suspect, who has spent six years studying for her degree, is schizophrenic and has suffered from depression. The baby's crying woke her late one night and she allegedly hit the child's head against a cabinet several times, killing the infant. The woman has been charged with murder.

A woman in her 60s has been accused of assault after a row at a bakery shop in the capital, the Mirror reports. A customer got into an argument at the store owned by the woman's daughter. The mother followed the customer into the street and allegedly attacked her. She is said to have hit her in the stomach and pulled her hair. The argument started because the customer touched some bread but did not buy it.
