Two trains were forced to apply their emergency brakes in Wuhu after a college student stood on the track to take "selfies", China Daily reports. The 22-year-old man posed on the rail line and waited for a train to come to take photographs of himself with rolling stock in the background. He refused to get out of the way until the train was 50 metres away. He later posted the photos online, drawing widespread criticism from internet users. Police said they were investigating the case.

The province's education bureau has suspended a woman official after she called a security guard a "house dog" and he then collapsed and died, the China News Service reports. The woman shouted at the 63-year-old guard after he stopped her as she was entering a residential building in Hefei . He died later in hospital. The official is helping with the police investigation, according to the report.
