After the guard tried to stop him, the man called over another three men and two women and they pushed the couple against a wall and hit and kicked them for at least two minutes. Residents called the police.
A couple from Sichuan have gone on trial in Shunyi district for selling three of their five children, the reports. They could not afford to raise the children and were caught by police in Beijing as they tried to sell the youngest child, a baby girl, for 7,000 yuan (HK$8,800). Two other people who were involved in the case were earlier sentenced to six and five years in jail for child trafficking.
A 20-year-old student at Fujian Medical University has been found dead in her dormitory, the reports. Her roommates said they heard deep breathing and screams at about 5am. They also saw her body twitch and called an ambulance. Doctors arrived but said she was already dead. The student's friends said there had been nothing abnormal about her and they had not heard of her taking any medication. The university had closed and sealed off the dormitory building while the police carried out an investigation into the woman's death, the report said.

After hearing that a lawyer wanted to buy a flat near his child's school, the couple sold the attorney the apartment they rented. They took a down payment of more than 200,000 yuan and disappeared with the cash when the lawyer asked for the ownership documents. They were later arrested.
